Technical DNF for Remy in Aragon Race 1

Remy Gardner returned to today at MotorLand Aragón, Spain, for the opening race of Round 10 in the FIM Superbike World Championship.

The day began with a very encouraging Free Practice 3 session, where Remy was competitive, finishing 11th with a 1’48.983, heading into qualifying with confidence.

Both GYTR GRT Yamaha riders entered the Tissot Superpole session with high expectations and pushed hard throughout the 15-minute run. Both improved significantly compared to their 2024 qualifying times, cutting over one second, but Remy ultimately lined up 10th (1’48.178) on the grid.

When the lights went out for Race 1, he made a solid start, battling through the pack. In the 18-lap contest, Remy was running a steady race, but with just two laps remaining he was forced to retire with an electrical issue.

– Superpole: P10 / Race 1: DNF

“It just wasn’t our day. Superpole wasn’t bad, but not quite enough to secure at least a third row start, even though we improved by more than a second compared to last year. In Race 1, I was close to the leading group in the opening laps, but unfortunately I began struggling in the second half and had to retire due to a electrical problem. We’re now checking what went wrong so we’ll be ready for tomorrow. There’s another race day ahead, and I’m confident we can bounce back.”
