Remy Gardner kicks of 2018 with a fantastic 12th in Qatar

Remy Gardner initiated the 2018 season with a great race after producing a mature ride to 12that the Losail International Circuit today. The talented Australian launched forward from the fourth row on the grid and made up three places by the end of the first lap.

Following a late brake on lap two he fell back, but was biting hard inside a very competitive group to eventually finish the 20 lap sprint well inside the points scoring ranges.

“The result is quite ok. I made a really good start, a great first lap and was in a truly favorable spot, plus I thought I could run with Binder, Oliveira and Vierge. I got to the first corner in this massive slipstream and wanted to brake like when I was alone, so there was a mistake on my behalf and I lost a lot of places, which is a real shame. But I came back, although I feel I could have done a much better race. Anyway, I’m still happy with my comeback and that I was able to manage to get twelfth position. We made a lot progress this year and I can’t wait to arrive in Argentina.”
